September, 2009: Ron goes to the Charleston Bar to hear his friend Sarah sing in something she called "Opera Night." Lo and behold, Marta is playing the piano for the evening. Ron says to Sarah “you have to hook me up with the piano player”. An introduction is made, but Marta assumes that Sarah and Ron are dating. And furthermore Marta is newly separated and not ready for the real deal just yet.

September, 2010:After patiently waiting for a year to meet Marta under better conditions, Ron finished up his actuarial exams (well, enough of them, at least). Sarah mentions to Ron that Marta will be playing again at another Opera Night. Ron looks forward to attending. Ron is delighted when she remembers him and their brief encounter from the previous year. After the concert, Marta and Ron go out to dinner with others from Opera Night. Marta learns Ron is an actuary. Marta laughs at Ron's actuary jokes (How can you tell the difference between an introverted and extroverted actuary? The extroverted actuary stares at your shoes when talking to you.) Ron learns they have common interests, not just in music, but also in cooking and food. Walking Marta back to her car, Ron asks Marta for her phone number.

October 22, 2011: In front of friends and family able to attend their housewarming party, Ron asks Marta to marry him.
